Walking & Running Groups Run Grand Rapids While Enjoying ArtPrize

Everyday during ArtPrize, people can pick a running club and/or walking group to get some exercise and also immerse themselves in art. The WestSide Stride is a free community running/walking group that designed a course to see as much art as possible in a 5K.

The ArtPrize run/walks are very casual. Simply fill out the waiver ahead of time online and show up. There is no cost to participate. https://www.swiftprinting.com/westside-signup

Meet at Swift Printing’s parking lot (412 Bridge Street NW) a little before 6 p.m. under the Red Lion Vintage Neon. The parking lot is open to the public 24/7 via text to pay at an hourly rate.

At the start, a team leader will welcome you, take a group photo and then you’re on your merry way.

“This is a great course to see a lot of art,” said Jessica Gutowski-Slaydon, WestSide Stride Coordinator. “Take your time in areas, go inside the Devos Place, bop around The Amway. This is the time to really enjoy and celebrate our city.”

After the “exercise” patrons are invited to join the group at a Bridge Street establishment for food and beverages.

September 20 is at Maru Bridge Street.

September 27 is at Condado Tacos.

Safety is our number one priority. Please wear bright colors and reflective clothing/accessories.

The WestSide Stride is always looking for fun things to layer into their weekly fun runs/walks. Favorite runs over the years including, Dash for Trash, The Donut Dash, and The Halloween Costume Run - where patrons actually run/walk in costume.

Huge thanks to SweatNetGR for putting together a list of all the fun runs to do in Grand Rapids during ArtPrize. (see below)

The WestSide Stride Community pub run/walk is a group of really cool people that live on the Westside and in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They love their community and enjoy a healthy-ish lifestyle. They are all fitness levels and many stages of life. Every Tuesday, April - October (weather permitting) the group meets at 6 pm to run/ walk a 5K. After the exercise, they meet up for beverages and dinner at one of the many local Bridge Street establishments. The saying, “There is always room for one more!” is the philosophy for this weekly event. The group was founded in 2014 by two WestSide sisters, Jes Gutowski Slaydon and Sam Gutowski when they moved back to GR and wanted to meet people in their community. The WestSide Stride is an organization under Swift Printing, in efforts with their continued community outreach and BCorp mission.
