September 20, 2021 Swift Printing is the title sponsor for the Walt Gutowski Sr. Driving to Achieve Golf Outing supporting the YMCA

The Y.M.C.A.’s Walt Gutowski Sr. Golf Outing was a huge success.

We love being the title sponsor for this event because of what the Y.M.C.A. does for our community. You can’t go to a place in Grand Rapids, Michigan that is more diverse than the Y.M.C.A. Their mission and service aligns with our mission to be a deeply rooted print shop in Grand Rapids, MI.

When I was a little girl I spent lots of time at the Y. Friday night’s we’d go as a family for open swim. My mom taught aerobics class and we’d go to childcare where I met a life long friend of mine. I still think my love for the “chlorinated pool smell” was established at the old Leonard Y.M.C.A.

The love runs deep. My father, Walt Gutowski Jr., and all of his siblings love the Y.M.C.A. Walt Jr. learned to swim before he could walk at the Y. I’ve heard stories of him as a baby crawling out on the diving board and jumping into the pool.

This is the first year the scramble was located at Blythefield Country Club. It was special to us at Swift because it’s where Jake Slaydon (my husband) works. They are home to the LPGA/Meijer’s Simply Give event and the course had just undergone a three million dollar renovation! The “Walt Gutowski Sr. Driving to Achieve” event was the first public event after the LPGA event. Pretty cool, right?

It was a really nice event and the Y was able to raise a lot of money to help children in need. If you’re interested in getting involved with the community event please contact The Greater Grand Rapids YMCA.
