Grand Rapid’s WestSide Stride 2022 Season Starts April 12

In less that two weeks, on April 12,  the WestSide Stride starts meeting up weekly again for the start of our ninth season. The WestSide Stride is a fun run and walking group that meets every Tuesday from April - October in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

What sets the WestSide Stride apart from other running groups is our welcoming atmosphere, support of local business mentality. We buy beers and food afterward on Bridge Street. And our no pressure to be the fastest approach to fitness. Whether you run for five minutes and walk the rest or you’re running a seven minute mile -  there is always room for you to join us at the WestSide Stride. It’s my favorite Grand Rapids running group and/or walking group. Yes, I’m very bias.

The past couple of years our group has had to throttled back due to COVID-19, but this year we are coming back with full force. 

The mission of our group is to be the “best community”. Our group comprises all ages, stages of life, and fitness levels. Some people come with a friend or family members, where others join the group because they are new to the area or are looking to meet new people in a healthy (ish) atmosphere.

Back on topic, Sam and I had hoped to make a few friends and have fun where we she lived and I worked. However, I didn’t realize how much joy I’d get out of witnessing others making strong relationships and enjoying Bridge Street the way I do.

The free pub run and/or walk takes place every Tuesday, April through October, weather permitting. The 5K course includes many sites downtown and the WestSide. 

Restaurants this year include:  Fratellis Kitchen & Bar, New Holland Knickerbocker, O’Toole’s, One Bourbon, Kusterer Brauhaus, and a few others along Bridge Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
