Client Feature: Franciscan Life Process Center
Since 1974, the Franciscan Life Process Center and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist and lay staff have been serving our local communities in Lowell and Grand Rapids through counseling, music therapy, outdoor experiences and art. Their mission is based in Franciscan spirituality and promotes a relationship with God that brings dignity and hope to the sacred process of all life through programs that assist, educate, enrich and inform.

The Franciscan Life Process Center serves over 1,200 individuals every month. In addition to their counseling department and music therapy programs, they also offer opportunities to engage with nature through their land program and host professional groups at their campuses.
We recently sat down with Sandy Koteskey, longtime friend and customer of Swift Printing. Sandy has an impressive 18-year tenure at FLPC where she started as a music therapy intern, then served 12 years as a board certified music therapist. She is a skilled musician and has mastered trumpet, piano and guitar. In her role as a music therapist, she mainly served patients with autism.

As the years went on, she grew to really like the business side and social justice piece behind the organization’s mission. She offered help with administrative tasks to the current director in an effort to learn more about business negotiations and how to advocate for music therapy. In 2018, she was promoted to program director, and in 2023, was offered the opportunity to step into a new role: center director.
In this new role, Sandy’s main focus is on how to elevate and advocate for services like counseling and music therapy while supporting her staff and meeting the goals set forth by the organization.
DECADES OF HISTORY
If you’ve been following along on our client features, you’ve probably noticed we have some long standing client relationships! FLPC is no different – we go back decades. In fact, the Sisters have worked with members of my family from all generations and I have benefited from their services as well. Another fun fact is that WG3 even taught piano at FLPC. See the article below from winter 2015.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with Swift and also deepening a relationship with Jes as she took on a leadership role in her family business,” says Sandy. “As I was entering my new center director role, she was taking on the president role at Swift and it’s been great to work with a like-minded partner.”
Sandy’s energy is infectious. If you know her, she’s a woman who gets things done! It’s an honor to work with her and the rest of FLPC team.
THE TROUBADOUR
Several times a year, FLPC sends out their “Troubadour” newsletter, a folded and mailed piece that updates their entire distribution list on the happenings of their organization, including staff updates, partnerships, results and upcoming events. See their fall 2023 newsletter here!
FLPC enlists Swift’s help with the entire process, from design to organizing mailing lists to folding and mailing. For design, Sandy says that each one is unique thanks to our design team (shoutout to Steve!).
