Top 5 Places to Eat on Bridge Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan
There are a number of awesome places to eat in Grand Rapids, Michigan but the best places to go are on Bridge Street on the WestSide. Here’s my top 5 and why.
Jolly Pumpkin - They have a really cool location. The old building has an arched roof that is showcased in the main room. In the summer, there is a nice patio for enjoying the sunsets as well. The sour beers are my favorite. I also love their hazy IPA, Sparta. Because it’s on the corner of Bridge and Summer it’s an excellent location for people watching while they cross the street. Most importantly, the pizza is awesome. These are my two favorites. I’d suggest getting both. SOUTH PACIFIC bacon, candied pineapple, jalapeño, pickled red onion, mozzarella, chipotle tomato sauce, black sesame seeds, and scallions. TRUFFLED MUSHROOM creamed shiitake & creminis, goat cheese, parmesan, fresh mozzarella, truffle oil, and dressed arugula.
Fratellis K&B - Fratellis Pizza and Fratellis K&B are Bridge Street staples. For nearly 20 years Fratellis Pizza has been the place to grab a slice or get take out. The owners, Enzo and Maria, are great examples of the true American Dream. They started out with Fratelli’s Pizza and now have an amazing Italian/American restaurant right next door. My favorites are the following: CALABRIAN BRUSSELS SPROUTS and THE FIG PIZZA. The pizza is a fig spread, goat cheese, pancetta, caramelized onions, and arugula.
Sovengard - There is no cooler setting on Bridge street than The Sovengard. When you walk in off Bridge street you will be blown away by the unique ambiance. Nestled in the back of their Garden level restaurant, their Bier Garten, is the perfect escape for city dwellers and foodies alike. The Scandinavian titles can be a bit intimidating , however, a server’s suggestion has never lead me astray and I’ve always LOVED it! I’ve honestly never had something from here I didn’t enjoy. This restaurant is farm to table and the owners, Rick and Kelly, have created a taste and an environment you will never forget.
Otoole’s Public House - This Pub has awesome food! A Bridge Street staple as well. They too have been on Bridge Street for nearly 20 years. Come during the day and it’s family friendly. Come after 8 p.m. and it’s a bar. This pub will always hold a special place in my heart. When I lived in Florida and would come home to visit, Otoole’s was always where my husband and I would go. We would also go to Monte’s, who remembers Monte’s? It was located where Butcher’s Union(also another amazing place to eat!) is now.
Maru Bridge Street - Sushi on Bridge Street, yes please! Great atmosphere. Awesome food and something different compared to the rest of the street. They recently released a special you can’t pass up on. On Tuesdays from 4-9 p.m. there is a $10 Tiger Roll, normally $16. I highly suggest you try it! I also love their seaweed salad and spicy edamame.
