I’ve always admired Shelley Irwin. She’s one of those people who radiates kindness and is genuinely nice to everyone she meets. I’ve had the privilege of being a guest on her show, The WGVU Morning Show, a handful of times, and each experience has been more fun than the last. One interview that stands out, though, was my conversation with Randy Finch, an incredibly talented artist, as we discussed all things ArtPrize.

Randy and I instantly hit it off. We’re both go-getters, driven by our passion for what we do, and that connection made the interview flow effortlessly. For those who don’t know, Randy has a fascinating background. He used to be a personal chef, traveling the world and serving a wealthy family. But one day, he decided it was time for a change—a bold move that led him into the world of doing more art.

During the interview, we talked about ArtPrize, one of Grand Rapids' most beloved events, where creativity takes over the city. We also delved into a special project I worked on a few years ago: designing an ArtPrize route that allows you to maximize the amount of art you see within a 5k walk or run. It was such a thrill to share that with Randy, who, like me, appreciates the intersection of art, community, and a good challenge.

It’s not just about the work; it’s about the connections we make, the stories we share, and the passions we pursue.
