We’re all about the West Side, so we’ve rounded up some of our favorite events in the neighborhood along with what our neighbors have going on. Keep reading for everything you need to know about summer on Bridge Street!

ON BRIDGE STREET

LAST SUNDAYS

Bridge Street Market, Last Sunday of the month from June to September.

Meet local makers and shop food and artisan goods at Bridge Street Market. Think: the West Side’s answer to Fulton Street Market. It all kicks off on Sunday, June 25!

PATIO SEASON: OUTDOOR SEATING

Take a walk down Bridge Street and you’ll spot outdoor seating and patios at almost every restaurant! A few of our favorites:

VALLEY FIELD

Fans of Valley Field is a grassroots effort to restore and revitalize a precious gem of a field, located on the West Side of Grand Rapids, Michigan: Sullivan Field (originally named Valley Field). As part of this incredible community work, their group of volunteers hosts many events, concerts and sporting activities at the ballpark throughout the warmer months. JOHN BALL ZOO

Don’t forget about the John Ball Zoo this summer! Located just outside of John Ball Park, the zoo is a great activity for a cool summer day. Plus, they have events happening all summer long – check out the John Ball Zoo event calendar and get tickets today!

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

Tuesday, August 1

Every year, a National Night Out event is hosted by West Grand Neighborhood Organization (WGNO) and John Ball Area Neighbors. This year is no different! We don’t have full details yet, but you can mark your calendar for Tuesday, August 1. Check back at www.westgrand.org later this summer for more details on location, timing and activities.

GILDA’S CLUB WEST SIDE WALK

Saturday, September 16

The West Side Walk is a community wide display of support for Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. While there is no fee to register, friends, families and coworkers who walk alongside each other are encouraged to fundraise for Gilda’s FREE cancer and grief program. Sign up to walk!

WALT GUTOWSKI SR. DRIVING TO ACHIEVE GOLF OUTING FOR THE Y.M.C.A

Monday, August 14

This annual golf outing supports the strong kids of the YMCA and is always a great time.
