Customer Highlight: A Sweet and Personalized Valentine's Day Treat from the Slaydon Kids

This Valentine's Day, the Slaydon children—Blake, Dax, and Parks—decided to add a personal touch to their classroom gifts, opting for something both sweet and unique. Together, they chose to pair tiny jars of Nutella with even tinier spoons, creating an adorable treat that was sure to delight their classmates. But the real cherry on top was the custom tags printed right here at Swift Printing, a local Grand Rapids print shop, which added a personalized and professional touch to each Valentine. (Perks if your mom being a printer!)

The tags were crafted from high-quality 100# Lynx cover stock, known for its smooth finish and excellent printability, ensuring that each tag looked sharp and felt substantial. Designed in the shape of a traditional gift tag, each piece was carefully cut and then drilled to allow for a sleek black elastic band to secure the tag around each Nutella jar.

“The design inspiration for the tags came from Parks’ favorite show, 'Grizzly and the Lemmings.' He loves how colorful and fun the animations are, and they wanted to bring that playful energy into their Valentine's gift," Jessica Gutowski-Slaydon shared about the creative process behind the design. “They want it a certain way, but that’s what makes our Grand Rapids print shop like Swift Printing stand out. We love taking on different creative jobs that push us to learn more and celebrate our craft.” Slaydon adds.

The printing process at Swift Printing is always a blend of precision and creativity, and this project was no different. We used our state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that each tag was printed with the utmost clarity and consistency, highlighting the thoughtful design ideas by the Slaydon kids, executed by our amazing in-house design team.

Assembly was a family affair, with Blake, Dax, and Parks each taking part in attaching the tags to the jars. The final step was for them to handwrite the name of each classmate on the tags, adding a personal greeting and signing their own names. This hands-on approach not only made each gift special but also gave the kids a wonderful opportunity to contribute to every step of the process, from conception to completion.

Dax, ever the innovator, suggested the addition of tiny spoons tied to the jars—a last-minute idea that proved to be a hit. This thoughtful addition really showed the personal care and attention that went into each Valentine, ensuring that their friends could immediately enjoy their sweet treat.
